Herman Miller's Eames Select 2010 Hang It All
Herman Miller has sold out of their Select 2010 Edition – the Eames Hang-it-All with walnut hooks and black frame. Luckily, Gabriel Ross stocked up on this collector’s item and we still have some left. Herman Miller only produced 3500 of the limited edition coat rack, and sold out months ahead of their anticipated cut off date.
Eames Hang It All - multicoloured original version
This version of Charles and Ray Eames’ Hang-It-All is a sleek and sophisticated interpretation of the multicoloured original that we all love but maybe wouldn’t want to hang in our carefully colour schemed living spaces. The select 2010 version is appropriate for any room as it is relatively neutral and classic.

From Herman Miller’s website:
With their Hang-It-All, Charles and Ray Eames made the everyday coat rack inventive and fun. Their whimsical original design features a white frame and multicolored hooks. Our exclusive Herman Miller Select 2010 Edition reinterprets this classic with solid walnut hooks against a black frame.

Lost your remote between the sofa cushions lately? How about your coffee?
Lost in Sofa by Daisuke Motogi
Chances are, you have never lost your coffee in a sofa before, although, depending on the contents of your cup, you may consider early Monday morning’s mishap during breakfast television a “loss”. Daisuke Motogi, of Daisuke Motogi Architecture, plays with this common experience producing: “Lost in Sofa” – a chair that is built to house all kinds of things between it’s waffle style cushions.

Prop your blackberry up between the arm cushions to ensure you’ll be able to find it when you leave, and stuff your book in the side of the chair to pick up again later.

I’m picturing this chair loaded full of goodies at my fingertips for a snuggly night in … perhaps a vase of tulips, a glass of wine, a bar of chocolate, a DVD, a pair of slippers, my crochet hook and yarn, my laptop… er… ok, the computer might be a little heavy for this application – although, if I only had an iPad… (hint hint, Ross)

Motogi’s website has this to say about the concept:
Things often get lost under the sofa. It’s ordinary for a coin which slipped out of your pocket,
or a never-to-be-found remote to be accidentally found in between/underneath the sofa cushions.
Maybe you’ll find a forgotten 10,000yen bill that you once hid there…

“Where’s the teapot dear?”
“It’s in the cabinet behind the nipples”
Likely conversation in a home adorned with a Valentina cabinet by Guiseppe Canevese for Ennezero.
Cabinet Valentina nel metrò with 4 doors
Fusing art and design, Canevese wraps furniture in Italian pop-artist Guido Crepax’s erotic comic strip “Valentina” in this unique and boundary stretching collection. Crepax’s strip, created in 1965, features an often scantily clad/sans clad Valentina in various erotic, dream-like environments – public and private. The strip, part of Italy’s 1960′s/1970′s  ”Radical Design” period, also makes reference to the work of notable 20th century artists: Magritte, Duchamp, Man Ray, Mondrian, and Warhol.

“Objects and products were no longer designed in view of their mere function, but were transformed in actual “emotional media” in which to encapsulate ideas, thoughts and yearnings that were, in particular, those of an entire generation.”
Ennezero’s website
Cabinet Il Falso Kandinsky with 2 drawers and 4 doors
Content aside, these Ennezero pieces pop in any environment with lacquered black and white graphic surfaces and clean structural lines.
Cabinet Pietro Giacomo Rogeri with 5 drawers
The collection is mostly comprised of storage pieces in various configurations: vertical chests and horizontal credenzas, enclosed bookshelves and wardrobe style cabinets, but also features two statement four poster beds, one with a life size image of Crepax’s Valentina seductively stretched across the headboard.
 Tester Bed Vita Privata
Western Living magazine featured Canavese’s work in “The Goods – Homes and Design” section of the October 2010 issue, noting Gabriel Ross as the source. If you’re in Victoria and are interested in seeing one of the cabinets in person, drop by our showroom M-F 9-5:30, S 10-5, 250-384-2554.
